A heat exchanger is used to obtain the most economical installation for pool heating. When linked to a boiler the heat is supplied and transferred to the pond via the heat exchanger.
The hot water from the boiler flows through an inner coil of the heat exchanger. The water from your pond is pumped via your filtration system and on its return to the pond is passed through (the outer sleeve of the) heat exchanger - in the same way you would connect a UV system.
